1) Remember The Way You Wash Your Hair
According to Mintel, concerns about damage were the main reason for 33% of women who changed their laundry habits in the past 12 months. So, how often should you wash your hair? Well, industry experts say less is better.
Steve Rowbottom, co-director of Westrow, said, “Excessive washing can damage hair, especially if it’s bleached, tinted, chemically treated or naturally very dry or porous.
“If you wash your hair daily, limit it to three times a week as much as possible, as it removes the natural oils and proteins needed to keep your hair and scalp healthy.”
2) Always Use Protective Devices For Good Hair Care
Hair can be damaged by UV and heat tools like straighteners, tongs, and even a reliable hair dryer, so it’s important to protect your hair as much as possible.
“Always use a heat protectant when drying your hair at home,” says Mark Woolley, hairstylist at Electric Hairdressing. Use a heat protection spray with UV protection, £14.50 to prevent damage from hair straighteners and bleaching rays, and Condition it.
And be careful not to hold the hair dryer too close to its length when it’s dry so that the ends don’t split or become fuzzy. “As a test, blow a hair dryer into your hands and see how quickly they fall out when you hold them close to your skin.”
3) Become A Brushing Expert
A good blow dry should last at least a few days, depending on your hair type, and several products can help extend your style’s life. As a famous stylist, Dan Sharp, explains: “You don’t always need a hot tool for styling. If you want a decent time on Monday, try a high ponytail on Tuesday and a high ponytail on Wednesday. Keeping it in style for a few days helps prevent damage.
The perfect batting job at home isn’t as complicated as it sounds, and investing in a few good tools will make it much easier.
Hair care expert Harry Josh says, “Start by shaking your hair as you roll it back and dry it.” “The more you transport, the more volume you get. When it is about 80% dry, turn it over and blow dry to smooth the ends of the hair. The last three centimetres are mandatory. Move your brush and hair dryer to the ends of your strands, and take your time. It will make all the difference. Since most people come to the side of their head, they push their hair in all directions, making it frizzy and stiff.
4) Remember The Law Of Good Tools
Think of your hair like your skin. Think about what you put on your hair and how it will affect you. Investing in high-quality products and tools may help you maintain healthy, strong hair. Hairstylist and Redken brand ambassador Tracy Cunningham says, “People are cheap to use on their hair, but they wouldn’t even dream of treating a cashmere sweater that way.”
“Around brush for air drying, Mason Pearson brush for style, and tail comb to move your hair a little,” adds Guido Palau, Redken’s hair legend and global creative director.
A nice brush is worth the investment and may be more expensive than others, but with proper care, it will last forever. Once a month, wash your brushes with baking soda and warm water to keep them clean and free from dead hair, oil and product build-up.

5) Packed The Right Way
A good conditioner is also important when dealing with all types of hair, especially thick and curly hair.
Celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson said, “For high-textured hair with always deep curls.” “There is no two-minute conditioner here. Deep conditioning involves conditioners that restore hair’s moisture and strength (protein). You should apply conditioner to your hair while showering and leave it on, or use a plastic cap to cover it and apply heat from the outside like a hair dryer.
“I think it’s important to use a leave-in conditioner and not shampoo too often. Rinse if you want, but don’t necessarily shampoo.
6) Mastering Your Brushing Technique
No one wants your mane tangled, so brushing is necessary, but don’t inadvertently rip your locks. Being too violent will only cause damage, and nobody wants to deal with split and fluffy ends.
“For perfectly shiny, healthy and tangled hair, brush your hair twice a day,” suggests hairstylist Laura Supervi. “Once in the a.m., once before bed, for about a minute each time.”
So, what is the best technology? “Brushing at the roots causes damage. Always comb from the bottom and work upwards,” advises hair stylist Tracey Cunningham especially if you have long hair.
7) Don’t Skip Breakfast
“If you skip breakfast, your hair loses the nutrients it needs. Hair cells need fuel. Hair cells are the second fastest-growing cells your body produces. It is also the last tissue your body prioritizes nutritionally. Being mentally so important and physically useless, if you don’t eat breakfast, your body dissipates energy from your hair first. Skipping breakfast (or any related meal) can lead to hair loss. Start your day with a nutritious meal of protein and complex carbs. My favourite option for hair health is quinoa porridge with two eggs or fresh strawberries on whole wheat toast with mashed avocado.
8) Protect Your Hair From Uv Rays
“Scalp and hair can burn like the skin on your face. You can’t feel it. At first, it can cause redness, peeling, and itching. Long-term sun exposure can cause serious damage like skin cancer. UV rays can also bleach. It works on the hair in the same way as it breaks down the protein structure of the hair, making the strands weaker and more prone to damage. Waterproof hair cream with a UV filter to prevent splits, especially if you have fine hair.
